I have never seen a bird like this....
This is from the owner of Snowball. Feather Dusters rarely live more than six weeks. They can barely move around, and certainly can't breed. Having been a Budgie breeder for many years, I had the opportunity to observe many Dusters. They all died between 4-8 weeks except this one. Yes, they all had the same care. The reason that the mothers won't feed them sometimes is that she doesn't recognize their chirp as being her chick. They have a different chirp. Mother Natures way.
Snowball died at one year of age. She lived happily in a padded cage with her sister, a splay legged albino hen. Her sister died two days after Snowball. Snowball attended many bird club meetings and Budgie Exhibitions. She was well known throughout Southern California.
